A transformative workshop navigating individual’s relationship with pain, body, and gender through the power of aerial movement
You are invited to join Farrell Cox as she develops Cocoon –an ensemble circus show mixing black salon culture with the complexities of disability.
This workshop involves gentle exploration and discussion about living with illness or disability for this new aerial show touring in 2025.
What to expect:
An aerial workshop where you can experience and try aerial skills.
A gentle exploration to get into your body and stretches.
An opportunity to think about your body in relation to movement/aerial
A conversation about how you explore ideas about your body
The opportunity to play a part in developing the story of Cocoon.
Themes Farrell would like to explore:
🩵Do you have preferred language which explains how you feel about your body?
🩵Have you ever has a diagnoses or illness that affected the way you feel about your sexuality or gender?
🩵Is there any specific music that personifies your illness or experience?
🩵How has your diagnoses or illness affected the way you choose to move or think about moving your body?
This workshop is for individuals who have illness or gone through surgery.
These transformative sessions aim to support participants in navigating their relationship with pain, body, and gender through the power of aerial movement.

What you need to know:
The workshop takes place at Circomedia
The workshop is FREE to attend
The workshop will last 1hr 30 min (Please arrive 15 mins before the workshop)
You do not need prior experience of aerial
Please wear comfortable clothing with minimal zips and buttons.
Light refreshments and snacks will be provided.
About the Artist:
Farrell Cox is a theatre maker exploring work around health care in the hopes supporting people to be less isolated within their experiences.
Why aerial? We carry so much weight and trauma in our bodies – aerial allows people to feel light and take the load off so it is a great way of opening up this conversation.
This workshop is part of a period of research, play and exchange sessions shaping the creation of Cocoon, an ensemble circus show mixing black salon culture with the complexities of disability by artist Farrell Cox.
