Bristol is a circus city!
Through the Bristol Circus Census 2024, we want to hear from circus performers, creatives and crew in Bristol. We’re building a picture of the number of students, artists and companies in the sector living locally or with strong connections to Bristol, and the resources and support you need. If we can better understand our community, we can be stronger ambassadors for your work.
The Bristol circus community is vibrant and resilient, and one of the largest in the UK. But in these challenging times, circus is suffering in Bristol and nationally. We all want Bristol to be a supportive and sustainable place for circus artists to work and thrive, and we think that having data – both numbers and qualitative info about your needs and interests – could help us and other Bristol organisations to advocate for Bristol circus, demonstrate the need for funding, support and services, and campaign for local, national and international recognition.
We will publish our findings on this website so that other artists and organisations can do the same.
